Update to my last post, they are filing a claim. Kid's father called me tonight and said that the damage to his car was higher than he thought. So, now I get to deal with his insurance company.

Love how people think that replacing a rear bumper and others parts, then get painted matched by a good shop (Note the word good shop?) is a $300 job.

He was fine with that. It was when they found the damage to his headlight that the price went out of his comfort level.

Well, sounds like the oppo party was trying to avoid insurance too. Cant blame them... apart from his kid hitting OP's car.

I understood that, but it still shows that people don't really understand how expensive individual cars parts can be, more so for a Lexus as well.

So sorry to hear that. I got rear ended in my 03 by a kid in a high school parking lot. Mine didn't seem as bad as yours, but I was still extremely upset. He just offered to buy me dinner like it was nothing and drove off. Hit and run. I got a picture of the plate (And his face sticking out the window looking at me) and the police found him a week later. His mom was pleased.
My whole bumper needed to be replaced, ended up being 600 dollars. We had the same insurance so it was easy. Hope it goes as easy for you.

He admitted fault to the cops, and was issued a ticket. This should be easy for you. they will basically say drop it off at the body shop, we will provide a rental until you get your car back. Done and done.

Thanks, I love the grabber blue too. Hopefully this gets put all back the way it was.
I bet the kid who hit you was not happy he got found. One of the first things I did after the kid pulled over was get a photo of the license plate. Had to make sure I was protected.

Yup, as soon as I pulled over I got a picture of his plate. He seemed confused as to what I did. It was just hilarious, tried to play it off like it was nothing and ran away from it. Insurance must have hit him hard. A hit and run on a 15-16 year old.
Are you planning to get your work done at a Ford body shop? My local body shop did a really good job matching my 12 year old yellow Mustang.

I was planning to take it by to them to look at it. Also got so,e recommendations on an independent shop. Will to to both and see which I like more. Waiting to hear from his insurance company now.
